A stainless steel heat shield, designed for Mazda 13B RX-7 engines, fits between the lower intake and the RX-7 turbo system. Its job is to block radiant heat absorption into the lower intake manifold, reducing charge air temperatures and increasing horsepower. The shield can also be layered with Thermal Barrier Panel material, further improving heat rejection. This design also retains an air space between lower intake and shield, further reducing heat transfer.
